Hope; it sounds like hope, in undulation
Exhausting and exploding with undiluted emotion
And on the shore I stand, my feet burning as the sand gets hotter
Riveting rays of the sun reflect like a golden bridge on water
Tell me you’ll come this way; I’ve waited far too long
Breathing the breeze that gets stuck always, on the same song.
Enchanted, I weave welcomes for you, of red mistletoes and dew
And I think I hear – I hear footsteps – you, you are coming – here
The sound gets louder, the air smells musical – you are near
So I thought, until I knew, it was just my heart beating itself to dust.
